A Challenge! The Top 10 for 2006

I saw on Frederique’s blog (which I frequently stalk), her challenge to post our top 10 favorite photos from 2006. I love this idea … it made me go back and see just how I’ve grown this year. So, here they are! Whaddaya think? What’s your favorite?

Fun with Weather

Ok, so I admit it, I like to check the weather forecast. I check it every morning and almost every night. I even have a weather link for our zip code bookmarked, right on my toolbar in my Firefox browser. So today, as I was looking at the weather (High of 65, Low of 47 … only 10% chance of rain … a nice day!), I came across some fun links. Try them out and let me know what you think!

Will it snow on Christmas?

And, with all of this talk of snow, here’s a link a friend sent me to create your own snowflake!

A Little This … A Little That

Just a little mish mash of stuff I’ve edited recently. Both of my girls love to read, I really hope they continue their love of books. Elliot and I both love to read, there are always books strewn around the house — by the bed, in the closet, in boxes in the garage. Anna is now falling in love with all of the board books Sarah loved at her age. She brings them to me now and says “See, See”, which is her way of telling me she wants to look at the pages while I read them to her.

Anna has recently figured out that my camera shows the photos on the screen on the back. Now she doesn’t want me to take her picture, but climbs up in my lap and says “See, See” and gets rather insistent about it! I keep trying to show her and explain to her that there’s nothing to SEE if she doesn’t let me take her picture!

Straw-bah-bah-bah-bah-berry Shortcake!

Little Miss Attitude!

Checking out the view.

The Potty Chair

Anna has discovered the potty chair. We brought it out and showed it to her a few days ago, and she is just fascinated with it. She now loves to examine every inch of it!! I don’t think she’s quite got the hang of it yet, do you?

Horses, Horses, Horses

I’ve finally had a chance to proof some of the photos I took while we were in Georgia over Thanksgiving. Sarah spent most of her time with her new best friends … Captain & Tomato. I added a few other random shots of the horses and the scenery, too.

A Few of Their Favorite Things

Things have been crazy since we returned from our Thanksgiving vacation. I’ve got a ton of photos to edit! We spent the holidays with my dad’s cousin and his family. They live on a farm in Georgia, and have tons of horses, cows, ducks, and the like. Sarah has discovered a new love … horses! She also came home with a little souvenir … a nasty little tick bite. Fortunately we discovered it pretty early and got rid of it, but now she has to take antibiotics in case of lyme disease.

Anna had a great time, too … she spent the whole time wanting to play outside. She walked and walked and walked and walked … you get the idea. Her new favorite thing to say … “owside, owside” … doesn’t matter how cold it is either!

In the mean time, here are a few random shots I’ve finished editing.

More Fun Ones with Anna

It is so hard to get Anna to look at the camera these days … or even stop moving for more than a millisecond. She is 20 months old and in constant motion at all times. The day I took these she was in such a good mood that I was able to get some shots of her actually looking at me. I just love these funky tights and the bright colorful beads. Here are the rest from our little session.

Thursdays Are No Fun

I know, most people hate Mondays. Not me. I hate Thursdays. Why, you might be wondering, would I hate Thursdays? Seems like an innocent enough day of the week, right? WRONG! Not in this house, anyway. Why? After three straight days of preschool, throw in a little ballet on Tuesday, three or four days straight of playing with her friend, and by Thursday my little Sarah is a big ‘ole grouchy pants. She was so tired this afternoon, that she actually fell asleep sitting next to me, while I was talking to my mom on the phone! So, to cheer myself up about how rough Thursdays are (we get the whine channel in loud and clear on these days) … here’s something I like a little better … Saturdays!

And, because I’m trying to take at least one photo a day … here’s one of Anna from this morning. She was running around the room, playing with one of Sarah’s hats. Of course she would keep it on for maybe 10 seconds at a time! I know the focus isn’t the greatest, but it was such a sweet moment.

Miss Sunshine

After having been sick most of last week, Anna is finally feeling better again. She was in such a good mood today … laughing and playing. Her new favorite thing is wearing Sarah’s play necklaces. She loves them!

Are You Ready for Some Football??

I love football season! More specifically, Buccaneer football season. Now that I am a transplanted Bucs fan, I had to switch satellite companies so that I can get the NFL Sunday ticket. I rarely miss a game. I am even slogging through this painful 2-6 season and still watching all of the games (and it is not easy to watch!). What’s funny is that until we lived in Tampa I never even liked football. Yep, that’s right, in fact, I really couldn’t stand watching. Living in BucLand though, you can’t help but get caught up in the fever. I admit it, I got caught up. I was hooked the year they went to the NFC championship and lost to the Rams … and I’ve never looked back. I have to miss tonight’s game, but hey, that’s what the DVR is for!

Ok, so its not the greatest photo, but sometimes we take what we can get.

I got to see the second half. This pretty much sums up how I feel about the game … and the season!

Lazy Sundays

I love Sundays, especially lazy, lay around Sundays. We don’t get many of them. We overslept this morning and didn’t make it to church … so when the girls got up we all piled in and lazed around in bed together. The weather has turned colder again (32 degrees last night … brrrrr for my Florida bones!). It was so nice to snuggle together under the warm covers. The one thing I love about the colder weather is I’m able to put the down comforter on the bed and get cozy! Then we indulged in yummy, gooey, cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and stayed in our jammies til mid-morning. <…sigh…>

Whine, Whine, Go Away …

Today has just been one of those days … all day long, we’ve been tuned into the whine channel here. Sometimes, I feel like jumping up and down, stomping my feet, and whining, too! So, in keeping with my pledge to capture more of the moments … here are a couple to illustrate my point.

Getting Started

Small slices.
Of our life.
In pictures.
And rambling thoughts.
In glorious imperfection.

These days I’m so wrapped up in trying to improve and learn photography that sometimes I forget to just capture the moment. I need to learn, sometimes, just to capture. This is my effort. I know in the first two I’ve got blown spots. The colors are off. And in the third I cut off her chin, and she has green fangs! : )

Who cares … we had fun.
