It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas …

That’s a line from one of my favorite Christmas carols, and I think it fits for this family.  Does the little guy have on the most adorable Christmas sweater?  And all the red and black really go well together.  This mini session had me singing Christmas carols in my head and thinking about decking the halls.  You may remember this fabulous family from earlier this year when we did their family session.  I was so excited that they wanted to be a part of my mini sessions to get their Christmas card images.  These are two of the sweetest kids you’ll meet and I love working with the whole family!

I love how the red and black pop against the brick and the fountain. :)

Look at those sweet grins!

More Mini Sneak Peeks

Last year this family was among my first clients while I was building up my portfolio.  I enjoyed them then and I enjoyed them every bit as much this time around.  I was thrilled when they wanted to participate in my holiday mini sessions this year.  This is one of the sweetest families I’ve worked with ever!  Their kiddos are so adorable and such fun to photograph.  I had jelly beans for bribery and it worked like a charm. :)

Check out what a great job Mom did coordinating their outfits!  Love the blue and pink together.

I took this one at the beginning of the session.  I couldn’t resist how pretty the sunlight was shining in her hair.

Check out those eyes … this little guy is going to be a heartbreaker some day … bet on it!

Spunk!

On Sunday this adorable little cutie was a part of my holiday mini sessions.  She was full of giggles and excited as could be.  And loads of fun!!  Need I tell you I fell in LOVE with her spunkiness?!  She was happy to spin and twirl for me and show me all the things that caught her eye.  Let me tell you her enthusiasm was contagious and it carried me through the rest of the day. :) Her mama had her dressed in the most darling outfit … and I even managed to get a few shots in the hat.  So. Cute.

I promised her mama one image for her sneak peek.  I lied.  I couldn’t resist posting three.

Check out the mischief sparkling in those baby blues.

Told ya that grin was contagious. :)

Just a quick note to say that due to a cancellation and a schedule shuffle, I’ve got two spots open for this Saturday’s holiday mini sessions.  Email me if you’re interested!  These are the last mini sessions I’ll be doing for the holidays.

Be sure to check back Tuesday evening for a quick sneak peek from this past weekend’s mini sessions.

Concentration

Anna reminds me so much of my brother, Chad.  When I look back at photos of him as a little boy, I see how much she looks like him.  She has a lot of his personality traits, too.  She’s easy going, but when she gets riled up … LOOK OUT!  But the one thing that really reminds me of him is this little mannerism.  When she is thinking hard or really concentrating, she sticks her tongue out part way.  She doesn’t even realize she’s doing it most of the time.  Chad has always done the same thing!!  Look at how hard she’s concentrating on that Leapster game … and check out that little tongue sticking out. :)   So sweet.

Hannah Montana and Her Sister Miley

My girls LOVE Halloween.  I mean they really LOVE it.  They talk about their costumes for weeks months before hand, going back and forth as to what they want to be.  First Sarah wanted to be a hippie … and she doesn’t really even know what one is!  For months Anna was SURE she wanted to be Snow White … I was all for that since we already have a Snow White dress, and its in good condition.  Then Sarah decided she just had to be Hannah Montana.  Anna decided she would be a lady bug (they were both lady bugs two years ago!).  Then Anna was back to wanting to be Snow White.  Then I went and priced Hannah Montana costumes and went into sticker shock.  All of the ones I found were way over-priced and not good quality either.  In the end I decided we’d make our own Hannah Montana look, so Anna and I went shopping.  Naturally Anna decided she just had to be Hanna Montana, too.

So we found funky jeans, rocker shirts, chunky black boots, loads of bangle braclets, bright headbands, and threw in some glitter makeup, purple eye shadow, and some lipstick.  I even found Sarah a blonde Hannah wig to wear.  She decided she would be Miley instead so she wouldn’t need the wig!!  :)   They are wild about the final result and got to wear their outfits this weekend for the fall festival we attended.  And we get to do it all over again for Halloween!

Senior Sneak Peek: Faren

I love all of the different outfits Faren chose for her session.  We managed to get a lot of different looks and locations, and all within walking distance.

Sorry to have made you wait an extra day, Faren … here’s the rest of your sneak peek!

LOVE this rock wall and the way the sunlight was bouncing off of it.

A little bit of urban attitude …

A pretty smile.

We thought about getting some splashing-in-the-fountain shots … but after she dipped a toe in the icy-cold water we decided we’d forgo those after all!

Featured Senior: Faren

Early Saturday morning it was a brisk 49 degrees for Faren’s senior session.  What a great sport she was to bring fun sleevless tops, cute skirts and dresses despite the cold.  All for fashion!  We trekked all around downtown and even had to dodge runners from a 5K.  I really enjoyed working with Faren and she’s every bit as sweet as she is beautiful.  I’ve been so lucky to get so many fun seniors lately!!

Sneak Peek from Tampa – Part 2

A quick note about scheduling.  October is full but I still have two openings left in November for regular sessions.  I also have one opening for this Sunday’s mini sessions and one opening for the following Saturday’s mini sessions.  Contact me via email at marla@marlalaramie.com if you’re interested.

Last night I missed the first part of my games while having dinner with friends.  I made a mad dash home to catch the second half of the Bucs game and the last three innings of the Rays game.  We had the Bucs game on one channel and the Rays game on the other … back and forth … which game to watch?!  It all ended well for both teams and I can’t believe the Rays are headed to the World Series.  I’ll admit, I’ve become a bandwagon Rays fan, the excitement is contagious.  I’ve never been much of a baseball fan but its impossible not to root for a team that’s come so far.  :)

After making my pal Debbie wait ALL WEEKEND for the rest of her sneak peek, I hope these are worth it!  Have I mentioned how much I love this family?! Big sister Natalia is a bit shyer than her little sister, but I still got a few smiles out of her.

Can you believe the intensity of those eyes?

What’s a little girls’ photo session without some twirling?!

And a sweet smile …

A hug between sisters. :)

Sneak Peek from Tampa – Part 1

While we were in Tampa, I had a chance to do a session with our good friends’ two adorable little girls.  The older daughter is this little stunner, and you’ll get to see her on Monday.  As you can see her little sister is every bit as lovely.  And did I mention that they are two of the sweetest kids you’ll ever meet?  I have no doubt if we still lived in Tampa they would be as sick of camera as my own kids cause I’d be photographing them all the time too.

When we talked about where to go for the session, and Debbie mentioned an old plantation museum … well that was pretty much it for me!  We decided to do the session in the morning, which lately has become one of my favorite times for lighting.  We thought the session might be over before it started when they accidentally knocked over the bench they were sitting on, and a bunch of wasps flew out from under it.  There was a lot of crying and freaking out, but then we managed to distract them and continue on.  Luckily no one was stung.  The ants were persistent, but we pretty much avoided them too.  Welcome back to Florida.  ;)

I’ve decided to torchure my good friend Debbie a bit and split her sneak peek up into two parts. :)   Today you get the not-so-shy Miss Leila.  Monday you get the more serious Miss Natalia.

Check out that sweet, innocent smile.

I just love this one.  Love the shy look … don’t let her fool you though, she’s not shy at all!

Have you ever seen a pout like this one before?  She’s sure to trip on that lip.

Back from the Beach!

Ahhh, there’s nothing like a vacation, is there?!  We spent our Fall Break last week back in Tampa, visiting family and friends.  We had so much fun catching up … it was so great to see everyone!  And I forgot how much I missed having so many choices for restaurants and shopping … I’m so going to miss that.  Sarah and Anna were so excited to spend time with their Uncle Chad, to get time with their cousins, and play with friends.  We watched football … and I got a giggle watching my husband and my brother with their laptops set up so they could watch their fantasy football stats!  We ate tons of yummy food.  The girls got to play with their cousins, hanging out, going to the park.  We even managed to get a trip in to a local Buccaneer merchandise shop.  And one of my highlights was seeing the new Bucs training facility (well, from the outside anyway), and we could even see the players practicing (through cracks in the fence!).  I was an idiot and didn’t have my camera with me, so no pictures of the fabulous new digs.

I even had a chance to get together with some former co-workers to have lunch (it was great to see you guys!).  Elliot was nice enough to keep the girls so I could go and catch up.

The last three days of our trip we spent with friends.  We took a trip down to Venice Beach for some yummy seafood and let the girls wade in the surf for a bit.  I think it was the sand they really loved though.  We enjoyed it so much we all went back to the beach the next day for some real swimming … and more playing in the sand.

The worst part of our trip was both girls had tummy bugs part of the time … and unfortunately we passed it off to at least one person.  Sorry about that!!  Oh and the second worst part of the trip was saying goodbye. :(

Oh and I want to thank my brother Chad, and our friends Debbie & Carlos for getting me addicted to Tampa Bay Rays baseball.  Yeah, just what I need, another Tampa team to follow.  Its bad enough I’m an obsessed Bucs fan.  Speaking of which, I spent the first 250 miles of our trip home trying to get the Bucs/Panthers game tuned into the AM radio in the car.  We made it all the way through the first half before we completely lost the station.  I spent the next hour or so trying to find another station carrying the came … with no luck.  Good thing ESPN runs game highlights!!

Bare with me as I get caught up this week.  If I don’t respond to you right away I’m not ignorning you.  I’m still going through my emails and trying to follow-up.

Oh and Debbie, I promise, your sneak peek is coming … probably tomorrow or Friday!

In the meantime, here’s what you get when you tell four little girls they can “get their feet wet” in the surf.

More Senior Sneak Peek: Leslie

Reminder:  I’ll be away on vacation starting Saturday, October 4th and will not be returning emails/calls until Monday, October 12th.  I’m so looking forward to a visit with family and old friends!!  It’ll be a jam-packed week, but lots of fun I am sure. :)

As promised, here is the rest of Leslie’s sneak peek.  We got a lot of different looks with her session … which is your favorite?  If you missed it, be sure to check out the Q&A feature in yesterday’s post.

Definitely a favorite of mine.  Check out those fabulous shoes!!

A close-up one … as soon as I saw that door I knew it would make a perfect spot.

Yeah, it’s a dumpster.  But what a cool-looking dumpster it is.  And someone added the graffiti just for us.

Did I mention how poised and graceful she is?

When her mom asked if she could pose for a few with her daughter, how could I possibly refuse?!  Look at how gorgeous they are together.
