2012 Senior Videos | A Bunch :)

In case you haven’t seen them yet on Facebook, I thought I’d post some of my 2012 Senior Videos here on the blog, too.  I know not all family/friends are on Facebook so this will allow you to share with them as well.  :)   I’ve been blessed with yet another group of fantastic seniors to work with this year!  I hope you enjoy their videos as much as I enjoyed photographing their sessions.  Still a few more to come later …

Jacob | 2012 Senior

Jacob is another sibling of a 2012 Senior I photographed back in 2012.  While we’d hoped to capture the same beautiful fall color and cool crisp weather as his brother, my upcoming maternity leave and the weather just wouldn’t cooperate.  Still, despite the warm-still-summer-hanging-in-there day, we captured some beautiful images in some of the same spots. Since Jacob loves to hunt and fish, his mom and I agreed that the Nature Trail on Green Mt. was the perfect spot to start, then we finished up downtown.  Jacob was a breeze to work with!

Eric | 2012 Senior

I mentioned in an earlier post how much I enjoy getting to work with the siblings of past senior clients.  I photographed Eric’s brother Brian as a 2010 Senior and this year was his turn.  Eric has a really natural smile that made photographing him that much easier.  I like it when clients make my job easy. :)

Lindsie | 2012 Senior

Once again I’m behind in my blog posts!  Its been a busy season and I’ve really been enjoying meeting the 2012 seniors.  What a great group!  :)   One quick scheduling note … as of September 30th my maternity leave officially beings.  After three weeks I’ll resume editing/ordering, etc., and I’ll take on a very limited number of sessions as of 11/12/11.  If you’ve already had your session, hang in there, I’m editing like crazy to try to wrap up in the next two weeks.  :)

—————–

I met up with Lindsie and her mom a couple of weeks ago for her session.  Lindsie is gorgeous, plus she was a lot of fun to work with  … not to mention so easy to photograph.  We struggled with the light, especially at the end (this hazy, cloudy, lack-of-sun thing we’ve had going on this summer is killing me!), but we worked around it and captured a lot of beautiful images.  :)

Bethany | 2012 Senior

Have I mentioned lately how many fabulous seniors I’ve had a chance to work with this summer?!  And believe me, Bethany was no exception.  :)   I had a blast shooting with her, and I’m so excited about what we captured.  It was super difficult to narrow down to a handful of favorites!  And even though it was another hot day, at least we had beautiful blue skies and sunshine for a change.  And being 5′2″ myself, I have to admit I envy her 6′1″ height … not to mention her stunning blue eyes. :)

Kaitlyn | 2012 Senior

A couple of quick notes first … as a reminder, I’m having a baby at the end of September so I will be wrapping up shooting as of 9/10.  My August dates are full and I have only two openings left for September, 9/6 and 9/9.  I will likely open up 2 dates in mid-late November, once my doctor gives me permission to go back to work (six week recovery for a c-section).  If you want one of those dates, its probably a good idea to speak up now.  After that I’ll be resuming a normal work schedule as of March 1, 2012.  December-February is usually my slow time so I think its a perfect time to take off and spend with my new baby boy. :)

————————–

I love it when seniors bring along a friend or a sibling to their session.  They are almost always more relaxed when they do, and it makes the session fun.  Kaitlyn’s session definitely qualified as fun, and I think part of that was due to her sister and her mom. :)   We trekked all over downtown to a number of my favorite spots, then finished up by using every last drop of sun light.  It was HOT (as it has been ALL summer this year) but Kaitlyn looked gorgeous the whole time.  I, on the other hand, was grateful to be behind the camera and not in front of it!

In case you haven’t noticed yet, I usually post sneak peeks on Facebook first, then blog about them in the next day or two er, soon.  I try to always add an extra image to the blog post, so make sure to always check the blog, too.  You wouldn’t want to miss that one in the middle right, of two stunning sisters. ;)

Megan | 2012 Senior

In a previous post I mentioned how much I enjoy working with clients referred to me by past clients.  Well repeat clients are especially wonderful to work with, too … and I love the chance to photograph the siblings of past seniors!  So I was thrilled when Megan’s mom called to schedule her session.  Her brother’s session was one of my favorites from 2010 and hers is quickly becoming a favorite too.  Megan was a dream to work with — a stunning young woman and a natural to pose.  We’ve split her session into two parts so be sure to check back some time next week for a sneak preview from the second part too.

Valerie | 2011 Senior

Remember Valerie?  She’s one of this year’s Senior Spokesmodels, from Hazel Green HS.   I was so excited when Valerie asked if we could do her full session at Tate Farms.  I hadn’t been there in a few years and I was amazed at how much has been added.  The staff and ownership is so friendly and helpful, which made things go so smoothly (despite the RAIN!!).  We had to duck for cover under some of the buildings when the rain started, but we still had plenty of light in several spots to work with.  Luckily the rain didn’t last too long and we were able to continue shooting where we wanted.  Sometimes the sky and light right after a rain/storm can be so beautiful and interesting, and this time did not disappoint.  We ran out of light at the end, so we met again the following week for a quick finish … this time with a gorgeous sunset.  And can I mention what an amazing sport Valerie’s mom is?  When I mentioned bringing my girls with me for that quick finish-up session, she graciously offered to watch them for me.  And she even treated them to a pumpkin and a snack.  Yep, the girls were in awe of Ms. Sonia. :)

P.S.  Are you a senior still needing pictures?  Are you a junior ready to get on the schedule for next year?  If you know Valerie be sure to ask her for a card with a special offer, and mention her name when you book.

Jasmin | 2011 Senior

Remember Jasmin?  She’s one of this year’s Senior Spokesmodels, from Hazel Green HS.  For Jasmin’s full session we drove out to her cousin’s farm so we could do pictures with her horses.  Is this not the most stunning horse you’ve ever seen?!  I love, love, love it when we can bring what seniors love most into their pictures.  And I think its plain for anyone to see how much Jasmin loves horses. :)   And I think they love her too!

P.S.  Are you a senior still needing pictures?  Are you a junior ready to get on the schedule for next year?  If you know Jasmin be sure to ask her for a card with a special offer, and mention her name when you book.

Contest Results

So you probably thought I forgot all about the results of the Favorite 2011 Senior Spokesmodel Contest.  Um, well, actually, yes I did.  Sorry!  Between school starting and getting a new puppy, life got a little crazy (excuses, I know!) and it completely slipped my mind.  Please forgive me girls, for making you wait so long for the results.  Let me take a minute to thank everyone who voted, it was a huge success!!  Between Facebook votes, blog votes, and email votes, the response was fantastic.  The voting was close, but there has to be just one winner.  So congratulations to Kei, #10!! And I drew a random name from the voters and the Starbucks gift card goes to JENNW.  Jenn, email me (marla@marlalaramie.com) your mailing address and I’ll get it in the mail to you in the next few days.

Friday Flashbacks

Welcome to Friday Flashbacks, a brand new feature on the blog.  What the heck are Friday Flashbacks?  To recap:

Every Friday I’ll be posting an image from a past session.  I won’t be revealing names or notifying you that your image was featured.  These posts will be clearly marked with Friday Flashbacks in the title so as not to confuse them with regular blog postings.  So if you see yourself in the Friday Flashback feature shoot me a quick email and you’ll earn a complimentary 8×10 of the image as well as a gift certificate for $50 that you can use towards a future session.  You can even pass your gift certificate on to a friend (but remember I shoot primarily older kiddos, tweens, teens, seniors and young adults).  Once you spot your image, you have until the following Friday at midnight to notify me and qualify.  Friday Flashback features will be posted both here on the blog and on the Marla Laramie Photography Facebook page.  Click the LIKE button on the page to make sure you get the Facebook page feed automatically. :)

So what happens if I don’t post a Friday Flashback?  The first person to email me and (nicely!) remind me I’ve forgotten, earns a $50 gift certificate good towards a session.  Sorry but this one can’t be passed on to a friend, and is only good for 30 days.  Also you can only earn this gift certificate once in 2010.

Now for a few rules.  You can only redeem one certificate per session.  You have one year from the time the Friday Flashback feature appears on the Blog to use it, and it can only be used for a session with kids ages 7 to young adult (with the exception being a past client).  Certificates have no cash value and may not be traded or sold.

As soon as I saw the light bouncing around in this stairwell I knew it was perfect for this shot.  This is one of my favorites from last Fall.  :)

I’ve included a link back to each girl’s blog feature so you can find out more about them if you missed it originally.

Starting NOW, voting ends at MIDNIGHT on FRIDAY, August 8th Sunday, August 10th — extended because I forgot to send out a reminder notice. :o

Who can vote?

Restrictions?
Just play fair, please (Golden Rule and all that).  Its up to my personal discretion if I think someone isn’t playing fair in soliciting votes. :)

Remember the Spokesmodel who receives the most votes will win a special prize (its a secret!).  And as an added incentive to vote, I will randomly draw one voter’s name for a Starbucks gift card.

On to the first Friday Flashbacks Feature (say that five times fast, HA!).  Because I just could not choose from among so many awesome senior sessions … I closed my eyes and randomly chose a name from my computer files! Here’s a favorite from the fall of 2009.  This session was in the morning and I loved seeing how different the light was in one of my favorite grungy alleys.  I shoot so often in the evening that this session was a great reminder how beautiful morning light can be, too.
